Even though this thigh-length skirt is still being worn today by some young women, they are not as popular as they used to be. - Pencil Skirt
A pencil skirt is a long slim-fitting skirt that is designed with straight, narrow and fine cut. It was invented by Christian Dior, a famous designer in the 1950′s after the Second World War. This Skirt reaches the knee or slightly below the knee. It is one of those skirts that have maintained itself for long in the fashion world.
- Maxi Skirt
The history of chiffon skirts dates back to the late 1960′s. The skirt was invented by Oscar de la Renta. The skirt is very long and is ankle-length or even the ground when worn by a woman. Even though it was invented in the 1960′s, it became very popular among young women in the 1970′s. The skirt tried to make a comeback in the year 2009 but was overtaken by very modern fashionable skirts. - Ballerina Skirt
Among the different types of skirts, this Chiffon Skirt is rated as the oldest. The skirt was very popular among French Ballet dancers in the 1800s. The skirt has since undergone transformations by some designers adding modern components to it in order to keep up with the ever changing fashion trends.
