This is a listing that covers all four Scary Movie movies, wild parodies of horror and sci-fi films in the tradition of "Airplane".

The first movie is a direct parody of "Scream", complete with character names like Cindy Campbell (named after Sydney, the lead character in Scream, and Neve Campbell, the actress who plays her), Doofy (think "Dewey"), and Principal Squiggy (think Henry "The Fonz" Winkler as the principal in "Scream"), and following a similar slasher attack on a small-town high school.

When the movie was a surprise hit for the Wayans brothers, Scary Movie 2 was rushed into production. This is an indirect parody of the "Scream" franchise, branching off more into a parody of "The House on Haunted Hill" and other supernatural films. In it, Cindy has gone to college along with other survivors of the massacre - and even those who didn't. She volunteers for a sleep depravation experiement led by one of her professors at a proportedly haunted house, and hijinks ensue.

When "Scary Movie 2" didn't top "Scary Movie" box-office wise, the Wayans were replaced by the Zucker brothers, who pioneered the parody genere with "The Kentucky Fried Movie" and "Airplane!". In "Scary Movie 3", the sci-fi elements really began to show up, as a now grown-up and blonde Cindy is a newscaster with a foster son. She finds out about a video tape which kills people thirty days after they watch it and tries to get word out to the public about it while covering a story about crop circles. The only other character to show up from previous installments: Cindy's opinionated friend, Brenda, now a school teacher.

Scary Movie 4 was released in April of 2006 and broke Easter weekend box office records, becoming the week's #1 film. Surprisingly, there's a lot of continuity between Scary Movie 3 and Scary Movie 4 - returning characters from all four movies are Cindy and Brenda, but returning from Scary Movie 3 is Leslie Nielsen's president, Anthony Anderson's rapper character, and in a cameo, Scary Movie 3's Farmer Tom, and characters that appeared in the previous movie and don't in this one are explained away.

Fun Fact: Every movie in the franchise ends the same way - with someone being mowed down by a car.
