The Ramona Series spun off of a series of books about Ramona's big sister, Beatrice "Beezus" Quimby and her friend Henry Huggins. The tone of these books were very 60's-ish, and it's fun to watch the tone of the books modernize as they foccus on Ramona and move into the 70's and 80's.
In "Beezus and Ramona", the first book, the series foccuses strongly on the bigger sister and her travails in dealing with her three-year-old sister. Ramona proved so endearing to the public that the girl was brought back in her own book series.
In "Ramona The Pest", Ramona heads off to kindergarten and tries to deal with growing up and moving along. She's picked last for duck duck goose and scrunches owl masks before she manages to find her own place to shine.
In "Ramona The Brave", Ramona's mother begins working outside the home, one of the many scary stages she must go through in the summer before first grade.
"Ramona and Her Father" follows Ramona through first grade, as the Quimbys deal with her father having lost his job.
"Ramona and Her Mother", Ramona makes a toothpaste cake in the sink, gets a MUCH better haircut than Beezus and tries to convince her father to stop smoking.
"Ramona Quimby, Age 8" follows Ramona through second grade, as she worries that her teacher thinks she's a nuisence and worries about the family's financial woes.
"Ramona Forever!" follows a now-nine-year-old Ramona as she acts as flower girl at her aunt's wedding and prepares for the arrival of a little sister.
"Ramona's World", the latest in the series, follows ten-year-old Ramona as she makes her first best friend, deals with her attrocious spelling problems and makes the transition to fourth grade.
