About:

Gene Marshall and her friends are a series of collectible dolls produced by the Ashton Drake Company:

Five Facts About the Gene Marshall Collection:

  • 1: The line was created by fashion designer Mel Odom


  • 2: Gene was first produced in 1995 - three dolls and nine costumes in the first year.


  • 3: In the heavily involved world created for the doll, Gene Marshall is a young starlet who's brought from her Grandfather's farm to stardom in the Hollywood of the 30's. Her best friend is Violet Waters, her rival Madra Lord, and her (perhaps) romantic interest, Trent Osborn. Her story takes us from the 20's to the 60's. Each doll or costume includes a storycard describing how it fits into Gene's storyline.


  • 4: Madra was added to the line in 2000, Trent in 2001 and Violet in 2002.


  • 5: The line is still in current production through Ashton-Drake, although many dolls and costumes have been retired.
