A B O U T

Gene Marshall and her friends are a series of collectible porcellain dolls produced by the Ashton Drake Company. The line was created by fashion designer Mel Odom. In the heavily involved world created for the doll, Gene Marshall is a young starlet who's brought from her Grandfather's farm to stardom in the Hollywood of the 30's. Her best friend is Violet Waters, her rival Madra Lord, and her (perhaps) romantic interest, Trent Osborn. Her story takes us from the 20's to the 60's. Each doll or costume includes a storycard describing how it fits into Gene's storyline. Though the first issue saw only three Gene dolls and three costumes in 1995, the universe expanded to add Madra in 2000, Trent in 2001 and Violet in 2002.

The line is still in current production through Ashton-Drake, although many dolls and costumes have been retired.
